Some people choose the pages of a diary to spill their innermost feelings and recount their trials and tribulations. Instead, Chayse Porter has a palace. “It's this metaphorical place where I can go to express myself and feel safe,” he explains. “Like the Beach Boys ‘In My Room’, it's this place where you can get all your secrets out in the open and feel at home.” But rather than luxuriate in his regal mental abode, Porter’s latest for Earth Libraries takes listeners on a grand tour, revealing the nooks and crannies of his heart and mind.

lyrics
Far beyond the Palace doors,
across the provincial patchwork,
unto the shore,
Past the salty sea,
and just a bit further more,
lived a young man named Chay
He lived out his days,
Quite akin to thine,
Sprinkled with pleasures of the sordid kind
A mortal being with a restless mind,
Chay feared most his own reflection
But like any other pond,
Bending light from a purpling dawn,
Ripples doth twist and pervert the most angelic swans
Chay knew this; he was not alone in his quest
So, casting aside his own self doubt
Leaving the candied comforts of home,
The old boy planned his route,
Not knowing how - or when,
It would come about
Chay’s pursuit... was resolute
Surely, he would stumble, as many do
The occasional crawl would be necessary too
Nevertheless, across the grand horizon - cerulean blue,
Awaited fortunes greater than any imagination could detail
Chay could sense that he was close,
he could feel it in his bones
What would await him? Fame, adoration, or precious stones?
By the grace of universal forces unknown,
Our dear boy would soon behold
“What’s this?! From where doth that music play?” he bellowed.
Lush strings, a beautiful arrangement of violin and cello
Pouring out the Palace doors, glowing yellow
Smoothing over the valley floor, landing softly on Chay’s ear
His pace, from a trudge to a fervent run
He galloped through the tall grass, racing a setting sun
Oh, but the splendor that lie ahead, could not be matched by anyone
The bridge lowered as Chay approached
The Palace doors open wide as he draweth nigh
Chay took 3 steps in and couldn’t believe his eyes
He’d seen this place before, had heard the chattering of the same magpies
In a dream, a distant dream, as hazy as the twilight
Chay felt at home again, a peace behind the stone walls
A peace of mind, within his mind, he’d never once recalled
Our dear Chay could finally say, he had the wherewithal
To never stop loving, to always give his all
