Ain’t Going Out Tonight was written after being inspired by lofi beat music and old jazz/soul
records. For this song, he used the mpc 2000xl for the drums and keys, and played guitar
and bass to give it more of a live band sound. The lyrics of this song were written during a
period of depression, often using substances as an escape, and withdrawing from his circle
of friends. Making this song was a sort of therapeutic exercise, and creating it enabled him
to move on.
